Why Did My Miner Not Come Back Online After a Site Outage or Curtailment?
Learn why miners go offline during site events, when they come back online, and what to do if yours doesn't.
Why do miners go offline during site events?
Miners at a site are powered down or placed into maintenance sleep mode during:
- Curtailments
- Site maintenance
- Site outages
- Periods of extreme heat
These are planned or protective measures and do not mean anything is wrong with your miner. Our site team brings miners back online as soon as maintenance or curtailment ends, or once temperatures cool down during heat-related events.
How long does it take miners to come back online?
Once a site event ends, we bring miners back online as quickly as possible. After a large outage, sites often restore power in stages, so some miners may come back before others at the same site.
Check site status: Find the latest updates for each site on the facility status page at dashboard.simplemining.io/facilities.
What if my miner is still offline after the site is back up?
Most miners return on their own once power is restored. If a miner does not come back online, or returns below its rated hashrate, our monitoring system will flag it and automatically open a repair ticket so the site team can diagnose it. You can follow that ticket under Support & Resources > Hosting Repairs.
Why does my hashrate drop at the same time every day?
Many of our sites curtail during peak energy demand hours, which usually fall at the same time each day. If all of your miners at a site drop to zero during the same window and then recover, this is almost always a scheduled curtailment. The facility status page shows curtailment windows for each site.
Summer heat: During the summer months, high temperatures can also affect performance. When temperatures peak in the afternoon, some miners may run hot or go offline as a built-in firmware protection. This can look like intermittent uptime or miners dropping at the same time each day. Our site team monitors conditions closely and takes steps to minimize overheating. Miners typically come back online automatically as temperatures cool.
