Unrepairable Units — FAQ
Standard Protection Plan & Premium Protection Plan*
What does "unrepairable" mean?
If Simple Mining determines that your unit cannot be restored through commercially reasonable efforts, it will be declared unrepairable and you will be notified. This declaration has several immediate effects on your billing, coverage, and options.
What happens immediately upon declaration
- Mining Recovery Credits under the Premium Plan stop accruing as of the declaration date
- Hosting obligations for that unit end as of the declaration date
- Program Fees for that unit are removed from the following billing period
- Your Service Order unit count is adjusted accordingly
What happens to your Annual Parts Allowance?
Any remaining Annual Parts Allowance balance for the declared unit may be applied toward the purchase of a replacement unit or replacement hashboard through Simple Mining. If the allowance was already fully exhausted through prior repairs, no additional credit is issued.
Your options
Option 1 — Retire the unit (default)
Simple Mining removes the unit from your hosted fleet. No further fees or obligations apply for that unit.
Option 2 — Customer-authorized replacement
You may elect, at your own expense, to have Simple Mining source and install a replacement unit, hashboard, or necessary parts to restore the unit to operational status.
- You must notify Simple Mining within 30 days of the unrepairable declaration to exercise this option
- Your remaining Annual Parts Allowance may offset the cost
- Any cost above the allowance is your responsibility
- Simple Mining determines pricing and may accept or decline the request at its discretion
If you do not respond within 30 days, Simple Mining will proceed with retirement of the unit.
What about consolidation?
If Simple Mining uses your unit for parts to restore another unit in your fleet, the cannibalized unit is treated as unrepairable under the same terms above. Its Annual Parts Allowance does not transfer to the surviving unit.
