How are miner configuration updates handled?

Learn how miner configuration updates work, including pool changes, offline miners and deployment timelines, and what to expect from the site team.

How to request a pool change

You can choose any mining pool you like. To update your pool settings:

  • From the Dashboard: use the Pool Change feature, or submit a support ticket.
  • By email: write to support@simplemining.io.

Include the following in your request:

  • Your primary pool URL and worker name or sub-account (this is a BTC wallet address for Ocean/DATUM)
  • Secondary and tertiary backup pools (strongly recommended)
  • Which miners should change. You can switch all of your fleet or only part of it.

Before you submit:

  • Most pools require you to create an account first. Ocean is the only pool that doesn’t.
  • Double-check your wallet address and sub-account name. Funds sent to the wrong address can’t be recovered.
  • SpiderPool sub-accounts must begin with “simple” to receive the discounted fee.

What the site team does

  • Remote update: changes are pushed to your miners through our remote management system.
  • If a miner doesn’t accept the change: the team will factory reset it and apply the change again.
  • If it still won’t accept the change: a site technician will handle it directly at the miner.
  • Worker names: each miner usually gets a worker name made from your account name plus its miner ID (for example, yourname.1234567), so you can track each miner on your pool.
  • Firmware: aftermarket firmware isn’t permitted on hosted machines. Configuration changes are made on stock firmware only.

Offline, paused or repaired miners

  • Offline miners: a configuration change can’t be applied until the miner is back online. Your request stays pending until then.
  • Paused miners: pools can only be changed after the miner is unpaused.
  • Miners returning from repair: we confirm your pool details with you before the miner goes back online.
  • Miners shut off for non-payment: changes are applied once the account is current.

Timelines and what to expect

  • Most changes are applied remotely soon after your request is processed. Miners that don’t accept the change on the first try take longer because they need a reset or on-site work.
  • Expect a short pause in hashing while a miner reconnects to the new pool.
  • Your pool’s dashboard is the best place to confirm a change. Miners usually show up there within 10–15 minutes of hashing.
  • The pool information on the Simple Mining Dashboard refreshes every 24 hours, so it may take up to a day to show your new settings.

Changes initiated by Simple Mining

  • Planned firmware upgrades or configuration changes that affect hashrate or uptime come with at least 24 hours’ notice by email. The notice includes the reason, the timing and the expected impact.
  • In an emergency, such as a security issue, the team may act right away. You’ll be notified as soon as it’s safe to do so.

After any change

  • Confirm your miners are hashing to the correct pool and worker on your pool’s dashboard.
  • Remember that pool fees may differ if a miner fails over to a backup pool.
